Introducing Drew & Jenna Farnsworth

If you live in Arizona, you know that our weather can be crazy!  It can rain cats and dogs one minute and be totally sunny an hour later.  We can have a haboob or monsoon sweep through the valley covering everything in its path with dark clouds, dust and rain, downed trees, and then the sun will pop out like nothing happened.  But on this day, February 18th we experienced something that I havn not seen many times in my twelve years of shooting weddings.  We had an entire day of rain!  Not just a little rain, but rain every minute of the day, the kind of rain that turns parking lots into swimming pools.  The kind of rain that could make a bride cry. . . especially when she has spent months planning a beautiful back yard reception.  But, you know what they say, “rain on your wedding day is good luck!”  A quick move to the beautiful Superstition Manor reception center saved the day.  Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain.  So that is exactly what Drew and Jenna did!

Luckily we had a beautiful sunny day on the day we shot their formal bridal portraits.  Drew’s reaction to seeing Jenna in her wedding dress for the first time is absolutely priceless.

Here is Drew’s story of how they met: “The ongoing debate on how we first met still exists, Jenna believes it was just a group hang out, I however was convinced it was a date. After a fun night of Dutch Brothers, adventuring to the lake, and driving around Fountain Hills neither of us wanted to leave so we made sure to set up a second date for the next day, and that’s how it all began. After that I don’t think we ever went more than 1 day without seeing each other, we just couldn’t get enough!

From then on it was movie nights and soda runs until the day came when I knew I had fallen in love with the girl of my dreams. After a long day with a lot going on, seeing her was the only thing that mattered. I couldn’t imagine my life without her and that’s when I knew it was time. I decided to take her back to fountain hills where we first met and ask her to spend the rest of eternity with me. And the rest is history.”

Introducing Ryan & Whitney Larsen

In 2014, shortly after graduation from the Arizona Culinary Institute, Whitney Waisath went to work at the amazing Sassy’s Cafe.  A few weeks later the owners son, Ryan Larsen, came home from college for Christmas break.  Ryan and Whitney had a mutual friend in town who convinced Ryan to take Whitney to a Coyotes game with them.  Ryan and Whitney hit it off and ended up being inseparable for the entire Christmas break.  When Ryan left to go back to Virginia for school Whitney cried and cried.  She knew she loved him and being apart was going to be so hard.  Ten days later Ryan asked Whitney to be his girlfriend and less than a month later they both said “I love you” for the first time.  The last year and a half have been filled with a lot of cross country flights and phone calls with  difficult good byes.  But on July 2, 2016, the good-byes ended as Ryan Larsen and Whitney Waisath were married at the beautiful Lavender and Old Lace.

The wedding party included: The Maid of Honor, Samantha Lucas and bridesmaids: Michelle Hansen, Amy Miner, Hilary Miller, Amber Harrison, Juliette Foster and Rylee Hiatt; The Best Man, Ryan’s brother, Jace Larsen and Groomsmen: CJ Waisath, Taylor Ottesen, Dan Ottesen, Sean Petersen, Austin Kleese, and Ciaran Giroux.

This is the groom’s beautiful mom, Melody Larsen.  She owns Sassy’s Cafe  and is the amazing artist who created this cake.  The details are incredible! Not to mention everything from Sassy’s is mouth-wateringly delicious!

Happy Birthday Leona & Miles

A year ago I was blessed to be able to photograph my good friends newborn twins.  (*You can see that shoot here.)  This year I had the opportunity to see how much they have grown and to photograph Leona and Miles for their first birthday.   Momma, Katie Moro, put together an adorable “Thing One and Thing Two” theme from the Dr. Seuss books.

“Today you are you,

That is truer than true.

There is no one alive

Who is Youer than You!”

 -Dr. Seuss

My youngest, 8-year-old Brielle, came with me on this photo shoot and she just LOVES the twins and so she insisted on at least one shot with them.  Because you know, every client wants a shot of the photographers daughter.  She is pretty darn cute if I do say so myself.

Happy FIRST BIRTHDAY Leona & Miles!  We love you!

Introducing Connor & Celeste Dunn

I had the privilege of photographing the amazing wedding of Celeste Bagley and Connor Dunn in the Phoenix temple on April 23rd.  It was a perfect day.  Here is Celeste’s account of their love story: “Connor and I met while away at school at Brigham Young University in Provo Utah. We met at a church activity, where one of our leaders tried to get him to kiss me in front of everyone when we had never even met before! After that night we began spending time with each other more and more until we began dating about a month later.  Connor proposed to me in the same spot that we had met a year earlier. We are now happily married (for almost 2 weeks now!) and are currently enjoying a month in Europe!”  Congratulations Connor & Celeste!
